Fault in EGR Cooler Pressure Sensor

The EGR cooler pressure sensor measures the pressure drop across the EGR cooler. If it's too high or too low, the engine control unit thinks there's an issue with the EGR system's cooling efficiency.

The ECU receives voltages from the EGR cooler pressure sensor typically between 0.5V (low pressure) to 4.5V (high pressure) and triggers a fault if it sees readings outside of expected range.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Check the wiring and connector integrity for the EGR cooler pressure sensor (look for frays, corrosion, or disconnections).
2. 22. Measure the voltage output from the EGR cooler pressure sensor while the engine is running (should be between 0.5V and 4.5V). Decision: If out of range, replace the sensor; if in range, continue.
3. 33. Inspect the EGR cooler for physical damage or blockages that might restrict flow. Decision: If found, replace the EGR cooler; if not, continue.
4. 44. Check for clogs in the EGR passages, use cleaning methods as necessary. Decision: Clear any clogs found; recheck sensor readings afterward.
